I have used this tool only a handful of times since receiving it and have mixed feelings about it. I love the way it is shaped - very ergonomic, easier to hold and manipulate than its round or straight-sided competitors. This, and the price, were the main reasons I decided to try this tool even though it had no previous reviews when I first ordered it. Unlike some of its competitors the blade adjustment knob is fairly easy to turn. The flip lever for making lengthwise slits, while not latching into place like some competitors do, moves freely and is easy to hold in place while making the long slit. I have not yet tried holding the lever half-way for a spiral lengthwise cut. However, there are two things I am disappointed in: 1. The top shield/cable holder is not bent to the proper shape, it holds the cable off-center on the blade, causing the blade to move in a very tight spiral pattern that does little more than score the sheathing, instead of staying in the same groove and actually cutting it. I have found that by working the tool back and forth around the sheathing instead of in complete circles I can alleviate this problem somewhat but not totally. I have also found that by adjusting the blade farther out to cut deeper than common sense would dictate (i.e., concern for nicking the inner wires) also helps somewhat but not totally. 2. The blade does not appear to be very sharp. This may be a result of the off-center positioning and not the blade's actual sharpness but, since it has trouble cutting deep enough on the lengthwise slits also, I'm not so sure about that. I intend to try to straighten the top shield/cable holder to see if that helps. When I do I will update this review to report success or failure in that endeavor.Update 8/15/19 - I'm afraid I still have a mixed review on this item. I mentioned in my initial review that I would attempt to straighten the shield/cable holder - I have done so. I found that it was off-center both front-to-back and side-to-side and I straightened it as best I could without breaking the plastic handle. I also found that the cutting blade really wasn't very sharp at all so I removed and sharpened it, using both a file and a honing stone. I did not take time to sharpen it to razor sharpness but I did achieve a much keener edge that it previously had. With these adjustments performance has improved somewhat but still not enough for me to give it a higher rating. I may try some more adjustments to try to improve performance, I'm not sure yet.
